  • Prayer Book   ( 67 Articles )

Assume we are always in conversation with God and that everything we do, say, think, and feel is a prayer. What sort of impressions are we leaving based on the conversations we have with God? My prayer book is an ongoing conversation with God, sometimes mediated through Steele, on the thoughts and questions I have about life, God, the world, and whatever comes across my mind or out of my soul.

  • Steele Chronicles   ( 11 Articles )

    R. Kirk Steele is my best friend, boyfriend and future husband. He died of cancer on April 17, 2009.

Every time I hear someone speak about Steele it’s like I'm learning something new about him. It’s amazing how each person observes something different about him, or has another piece of the puzzle to fill in about his life experience. I’d like to piece the puzzle together, so we all can tell the story of our Man of Steele, not just from our own perspective, but from the collection of experiences.

So if you have a story to share, or a thought to offer, please share it in the comments. You don’t have to romanticize it; even a mundane encounter is a gift, so share whatever your spirit calls you to share. Share as many stories as often as you wish. Write a book for all I care. I figure even in his death, together, we can get to know him a little better.

About Us

Memoir of a Creative Extremist is an ongoing conversation with God. It is my prayer for the day. It was intended to be a news blog. In a way it still is. Here you will read about the things on my mind and in my soul. The category Memoir is the story of my life as it unfolds inside my head and outside in the tangible world. Travelogue is a collection of stories about my adventures around the world. Reading Room is a taste of the mind candy I ingest from the world's wordsmiths. The Archives contain the category Prayer Book, which is a collection of thoughts and questions I have of myself, of God, and the world, and the category Steele Chronicles, which are stories about the late great R. Kirk Steele. Learn about the inspiration for the name in extracts from Martin Luther King Jr's "Letter from a Birmingham Jail".
