Ancestral Stories: A Celebration of Life!

Noelle Khalila NicollsPrayer Book

When our bodies fade to dust, all we have left is stories to share: memories that communicate with our souls and lift us up to continue God’s work. Our eternal spirits existed before our bodies were formed and will perpetuate long after our bodies return to the earth. Join me in celebration of the eternal human spirit, as we honour our ancestors. Every life is a story, and every story is a lesson. Join me to share ancestral stories to say thank you, to say we love you, to say we acknowledge you, to say we feel you, to say we praise you to all our ancestors, those known and unknown, for touching our lives in ways that transcend time and space and understanding.

Our ancestors: the family we have blood relations with – our parents, grandparents, great grandparents, great great grandparents, and so on, who have transitioned – but also spiritual teachers, academic teachers, mentors, old friends, and citizens of the world in general who have helped to shape our lives and inspire us to maximise our God-given human potential. The stories we shall share are to honour all of them: near and far, recent and ancient, known and unknown.

The ceremony is dedicated to Roan Kirk Steele: my best friend, boyfriend and future husband, in another lifetime. We give God thanks that he is resting in peace. It is also my earthday celebration, although the real day is not until September 4.
