An exercise in LOVE for Steele

Noelle Khalila NicollsPrayer Book

Steele is very weak and very tired. He sleeps a lot. We continue to have faith that there is nothing too great that Doctor God can’t cure, and thank him for the blessing of life he continues to honor Steele with. One of the first things Steele told me at the start of this ordeal was: “I know you want me to live; everyone wants me to live; I want to live, but we don’t know what God’s will is.” Let us all submit to God’s will as his perfect plan is revealed and pray for God to grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Steele is a peace with his life and with the possibility of death.  He says he has felt more love in these past few weeks than in 32 years of life. And it gives him great joy to think how his life will be transformed if he survives. I told him about two weeks ago that I would either love him to the grave, or I would stand next to him with my shovel and help him dig out of it. You who love him are members of his Council of Love and I know within his council there is enough faith, hope, love and talent to help him either rest in peace or live to see 100. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers and continue to let love heal our brother in Christ.

Unfortunately he does not want; rather, is not up for it, to see any visitors. This is mainly because he is so tired and weak. I planned to ask him again yesterday if that is still his wish, but he has been resting all night and is still sleeping now.

In the meantime, anyone who wishes to send him a note, I invite you to participate in an exercise with me that hopefully will be healing for him, me and you. Please write him a note stating (this is if you need help figuring out what to say):

  1. One wish for yourself before you die. Before I die I want to… (For me: Before I die, I want to dive with whale sharks off the coast of Mozambique).
  2. One thing you are thankful for… (For me: I am thankful for experiencing the warmth of God’s love every morning with the sunrise).
  3. One thing you want to say to Steele… (For me: I loved you at the beginning and I’ll love at the end!)

Keep them short and humorous, if possible. Email them to rkirksteele@gmail.com or noellenicolls@gmail.com, or give them to Shaft (contact him at howardshand@gmail.com), if they are hard copies, or post them in the comment stream. I will read your notes to him, even if he is asleep, and the hard copies I will stick them on the walls of his room.

Wishing you all the love in the world and God’s blessings – Noelle
