African men get a bad rap. They overpopulate our prisons, and our politics, and they receive the brunt of the blame for all of our problems. Everyone is constantly trying to fix the African man and whatever he does, he feels not good enough. The world’s war on the African man has obscured the real tragedy, which is the fact that the African man’s spirit is starved; robbed of vitality. The collective pain of centuries of oppression, western indoctrination and institutionalized hardship has killed his spirit. He exists in an inner state of disharmony: spiritually unconscious. The chaos in our communities we ascribe to the African man is an outward manifestation of his inner turmoil. African men do not need Jesus, religion, or a kick in the ass, they need self-love and inner peace.
Over the past few months I have been blessed with a new awareness of the African man. Spiritually awakened men bring light and love to the world. Spiritually dead men bring chaos and disorder. Spiritually awakened men know peace and abundance. Spiritually dead men know anger and unhappiness. With the right awareness, God emerges in the face of the African man. It is unavoidable to inspired and in love. Steele’s journey brought him consciousness. My journey brought me awareness.
African men need their spirits to be reclaimed and reignited. All of our Kingmen need to be reminded they are infinite, divine beings of creation; they are whole and complete; they are full of love and worthy of love. When the spirit is awakened in the African man he will experience personal freedom and power; he will transform our communities; and he will truly experience the love of radiant African women.
African women must assume this sacred responsibility: harnessing their divine feminine energy to restore balance. I am committing myself to showing the African man love and compassion, and to honouring his inner light and creativity. Only through making love not war with the African man will his spirit be restored. We need to spark the spirits of African men, and have their lights radiate to the heavens. When we restore the balance in the African man’s spirit we will restore the balance in our communities. I am declaring honour, peace and blessings for the African man: perfect love and thanksgiving.
All I am saying is let us give the brothers some love. Let us make love with the African man.
In honour of my angel: Roan Kirk Anthony Steele. Born 01.08.77: Transitioned 04.17.09.
