I am feeling helpless and overwhelmed by the situation in Haiti, and not just since the earthquake. When are we going to do right by Haiti? World news talking about decades of hardship, try centuries. Cold and in the dark, tonight many babies will be crying. I cry with my people. African people, Haiti was the sacrifice for our freedom. Lift them up. Lift them up! It is long overdue and high time.
As my due date approaches (Sunday, 17 January), and I prepare for my reBirth party, I am reminded that life is a cycle and with death comes renewal; tragedy brings us the potential to flower. This message we should hold dear as we send love, light and strength to our Haitian brothers and sisters.
Join me Saturday for the Haitian Relief Effort Meeting at BlackFood.org headquarters (More info: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=252188877357). Let us mobilize the community to support those who sacrificed for our freedom.
So much pain. So much suffering. Too much to endure for one nation. The Creator is a mysterious being and we are subject to divine will. With peaceful acceptance let us surrender ourselves to whatever life brings, so we may be able to act with clarity and strength.
Join me SUNDAY to celebrate the beauty of life in all its tragic splendor at my reBirth party. It’s not a beach party, it’s just on the beach. Sunday, 17 April 2010 at 3pm, Yamacraw Beach (Not the beach by Stoke’s house. The beach where Prince Charles intersects with Yamacraw). It’s a cooler party, AKA, bring your own booze. Feel free to come hungry, there will be food.
